6sense Preferred Publisher Lists

Prev Next

6sense is constantly working to source the best ad inventory across top publishers. This is done by creating site lists, unlocking private marketplaces and consistent optimization by 6sense data analysts and leveraging state of the art inventory analysis tools.

Overview

The preferred publisher list (PPL) is a curated list of more than 1,000 publishers chosen based on traffic, inventory quality, and content categories. Because publishers can begin or stop publishing and change what sort of content they publish and how often, the list is dynamic and ever-changing based on the data 6sense observes.

Each publisher within the 6sense Preferred Publisher List conforms to the below criteria. Exceptions are considered if they meet certain performance benchmarks or professional editorial criteria (for example, trade magazines like adexchanger.com or martechtoday.com) and would only be included after manual review.

Note: At this time, the PPL cannot be used when Language Targeting is applied.

Considerations When Using the 6sense Preferred Publisher List

To increase success, keep the following considerations in mind when targeting 6sense’s PPL:

  • The 6sense PPL is comprised mostly of web publishers. As such, we recommend not using app-specific targeting when targeting the 6sense PPL.

  • As the PPL is a small subset of the overall available 6sense ad inventory, there is less overall supply. To remain competitive, 6sense recommends increasing your CPM media bid by 20% compared to CPM when not targeting the PPL. As always, continue to monitor and optimize your CPM (along with the rest of the campaign) as it begins to serve!

Evaluation Criteria

Each publisher within the 6sense Preferred Publisher List conforms to the below criteria:

  • Has an Ads.txt.

Ads.txt is an IAB-approved text file that aims to prevent unauthorized inventory sales.

  • Doesn’t belong to a nonpreferred category.

The nonpreferred categories include: family, adult, religion and spirituality, social media, video games and e-sports, games, food & drink, community & content creation, style, fashion, and beauty, Movies, Music, TV, & Online Streaming, Pets & Animals, People & Society.

  • Meets internal and third party qualifications for site quality and traffic profile standards.

In addition to the above criteria, 6sense performs routine inventory quality analysis using a wide range of automated and manual tools to evaluate sites on the Preferred Publisher List and new sites that should be added to the list, so that the list remains current.
