Check 6sense WebTag Configuration Health

Prev Next

WebTag configuration is essential for tracking web activities on your websites. If webtags are not configured correctly on some or all of your websites, you will miss precious web activity data, which is not recoverable.

Step-by-Step WebTag Health Check Process

Here are steps to check if webtags are configured correctly and firing successfully. We recommend that you check this when you notice a significant decrease in web activity data.

1. Follow the instructions in the Check if the Javascript Tag is Added to Your Website article to see if the 6sense Javascript tag fires on your website. Common practice is to review this on:

  • Newly added web pages

  • Web pages that have been rebuilt recently

  • Web pages that have very few or no activities to them

2. If the 6sense Javascript tag does not fire on your web pages, check the following three items:

  • Check if your 6sense Javascript Tag is blocked by any cookie management platform or tag manager.

  • Check if a webtag is in place for these web pages.

  • Check if the correct tag token is being used. You can get the right token in 6sense. Go to Settings -> Integrations -> My Integrations -> Website Tag, then click the Get Tag button.

Additional Tip

If you see an unusual web traffic drop, but your webtag configuration looks good after you go through the above checklist, check if your web traffic has organically dropped with your website analytics tool (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, and so on).
