As a customer, creating a strong and secure password is important to protect your personal and business information online. Your password is the first line of defense against unauthorized access to your 6sense account, so it’s essential to configure password requirements to ensure it is strong and secure.
This article discusses password requirements for customers using the out of the box 6sense username and password option (non-SSO). 6sense highly recommends enabling SSO wherever possible.
If your organization does use SSO, please refer to Set Up Single Sign-On (SSO).
6sense Minimum Password Requirements
Passwords must be at least 12 characters long.
Passwords must contain 1 upper case and 1 lower case letter.
Password must contain 1 digit.
Passwords must contain at least 1 symbol. Symbols include characters like @, #, $, and %.
Your new password must be different from the past 3 passwords.
Password Reuse Limit
Your new password must be different from the past 3 passwords. If you try to set a password that has been used before, you will receive an error message: “Password must not match the previous 3 passwords.”
Password Expiration Limit
Your password is valid for 90 days before expiring. It’s important to change your password regularly to keep it secure. If your password is about to expire, you will receive a warning message 14 days before expiration: “Your password will expire in 14 days.”
Failed Login Attempts
You are allowed a maximum of 5 failed login attempts per 5-minute period. If you exceed the limit, you will be locked out of your account for 30 minutes. If you have exceeded the login attempts threshold, you will receive a warning message: “You have 2 login attempts remaining before being locked out.”
Token Expiration
Your authentication token is valid for 90 minutes. If your token expires, you will be prompted to log in again.
