Q: How does 6sense use this configuration?

A: This configuration informs 6sense of the URL structure your company uses when logging into Salesforce. Once this is configured, 6sense is able to create a more seamless experience for your users to navigate from 6sense’s ABM Alerts to Sales Intelligence within Salesforce for a given account identified in the alert email.

Due to Salesforce’s security policies, if you do not set up these configurations to match your Salesforce URL structure, then your sales users will likely be prompted to log into Salesforce every time they click on an account link in 6sense’s alerts, even if they’ve already logged into Salesforce in the same browser. But if 6sense is configured to match the proper URL structure that your team uses when logging into Salesforce, then your users will be able to directly access a Salesforce Account page from an ABM Alert without having to log in again for every single account.

Q: Where do I access this configuration?

A: Navigate to Settings within the ABM Platform, and then click on Integrations. This feature is currently available for Salesforce CRM.

Q: How do I know which of the Domain Types to select?

A:

  • By default, 6sense will use the standard salesforce.com URL Structure. In most cases, Salesforce will require you to log in every time you access a Salesforce Account record through this type of URL.

  • Most companies will typically customize their team’s login experience using a feature called My Domain. This allows you to log into Salesforce through a custom subdomain, which will usually include your company’s name. If you typically log in to Salesforce using a URL that looks like my.salesforce.com, then you’ll want to select My Domain (Custom) as the Domain Type.

  • If your company has not set up a custom subdomain, then you likely log in to Salesforce through an instance URL that Salesforce assigned to your organization. This has a slightly different URL structure than the My Domain option and will typically look like na30.salesforce.com. In this case, you should select Assigned Salesforce Instance (Default).

Q: What do I type into the subdomain field?

A: Simply enter the subdomain, which is the first part of the URL structure. When you switch between the Domain Types, you’ll see that the rest of the URL structure will change. You only need to type in “na30” if your typical login URL is na30.salesforce.com, or type in “customname” if your typical login URL is customname.my.salesforce.com. Make sure the combination of the subdomain and rest of the URL structure actually matches your typical login URL.

Q: What if my login URL structure does not match any of these options?

A: It is possible that your company has added additional redirects during your login experience, so you may not directly see which Domain Type is ultimately used by Salesforce. In such cases, you should talk to your Salesforce Administrator to understand if a custom My Domain subdomain has been set up or not.

Q. Does 6sense support the upcoming enhanced domains in SFDC?

A: Yes, 6sense integration supports the Enhanced Domain feature without any impact. Reference article.
