Set Up and Manage AI Email Bounce Prevention

Prev Next

AI Email (AIE) helps prevent campaign emails from bouncing. AIE detects potential bounced contacts and prevents the enrollment of those contacts in your campaign. You can adjust the bounce prevention rules.

Bounce prevention rules apply to all campaigns within your organization.

Bounce prevention rules only apply to contacts imported through CRM. Contacts imported manually or via CSV files will not go through the bounce prevention analysis.

Set up bounce prevention

To set bounce prevention rules:

G to the AI Inboxes > Deliverability.

In the Bounce prevention pane, adjust the toggles to your preferences. By default, the toggle for personal emails is turned off, while all other toggles are on.

Bounce prevention rules

Bounce prevention rules include:

  • Personal emails: Personal email addresses typically use free public email services such as @gmail.com and @outlook.com. Having this toggle on ensures that your campaigns reach professional, business-related email addresses.

  • Role-based emails: Role-based emails are more associated with a particular role, rather than a specific individual. Some examples include [email protected], [email protected]. Role-based emails typically have high opt-out rates and high bounce rates as well. Having this toggle on reduces the risk of impacting email deliverability, as most email providers consider sending emails to these addresses as potential spam.

  • Disposable emails: Disposable emails are temporary addresses meant for short-term use. These addresses will be deleted after a while, and any emails sent thereafter will bounce. Having this toggle on ensures your AI email agent avoids such addresses.

  • Invalid email servers: Invalid email servers are domains that might not exist, and therefore any emails sent to the associated addresses will always bounce. AIE detects these by pinging their DNS server for valid MX records. Having this toggle on reduces the risk of damaging your AI Inboxes’ reputation.

Pre-campaign launch message

If at least one bounce prevention rule is enabled, AIE displays an informational message in the campaign’s Preview and launch section.

Identify bounce risk contacts

In the Campaigns list, AIE displays a yellow envelope icon to the left of the campaign name if it includes any contacts identified as at risk for bouncing.

Contacts caught by bounce prevention are shown in the campaign’s Contact enrollments tab Contacts enrollment panel. They will not be enrolled into the campaign, and they will be excluded from the AI conversation quota.

Enroll or remove bounce risk contacts

You can choose to re-enroll the flagged contacts into the campaign.

Alternatively, you can remove them from the list of potential bounces. If you remove these enrollments, they will remain visible in your CRM’s report in the Integrations tab.

To enroll or removed contacts flagged as bounce risks:

  1. Go to Campaigns.

  2. Select a campaign to open its page.

  3. Select the Contacts enrollment tab.

  4. In the Contacts enrollment panel, select Bounce risks. This sorts the list of contacts below.

  5. Scroll down to see the list of contacts identified as at risk of bouncing.

  6. Enroll or remove the contacts:

    • For one contact, from the 3-dot More menu at the left of a its row, select Enroll or Remove.
