This page discusses how to use the (CE) AI Writer rephrase feature and slash commands to quickly and easily create engaging content.
Rephrase email copy with AI suggestions
Line-by-line edits can polish a draft to make it “production-ready.” The AI Writer streamlines the copy editing process by putting the power of generative AI in your hands.
To rephrase and revise copy in the AI Writer:
Highlight the text that you want to rephrase in the editor.
A floating menu pops up above the highlighted text with the following options: Shorten, Expand, Friendly, Professional, Witty, and Custom.
Select on the appropriate option to rephrase the text the way that you would like. If you choose “Custom”, you will be able to type in custom instructions for rephrasing the highlighted text.
The AI Writer generates a suggestion for how the highlighted text could be rephrased based on the option you chose in the floating menu. For example, if you chose “Friendly”, the AI Writer will suggest a friendlier version of the highlighted text.
Select Use to apply the suggestion, which replaces the original highlighted text in the document editor. Otherwise, you can click Re-generate to generate another suggestion or Discard to remove the suggestion.
Generate copy with context
The AI Writer also has a variety of slash commands that you can use to generate new copy that learns from the context of your existing copy.
Follow these steps to use the slash commands:
To access these commands, go to any new line in the document editor and press ‘/’.
You will see a dropdown menu with the following AI slash commands: “Custom brief”, “Continue writing”, and “Generate talking points”.
Click on the appropriate option to generate new copy directly within the document editor. If you choose “Custom brief”, you will be able to enter a brief in a freestyle manner.
The AI Writer will generate a copy suggestion based on the AI slash command. This suggestion will be take into account the context of the existing text in the document.
You can click Use to add the suggestion to the document editor. Otherwise, you can click Re-generate to generate another suggestion or Discard to remove the suggestion.
FAQ
Q: What is the difference between the AI slash commands and the AI brief in the Document?
A: The AI slash commands take in context from the existing text that is in the document editor, the AI brief does not. For this reason, we recommend starting the drafting process with the AI brief, but then using the slash commands for editing and augmenting the document’s copy.
Q: Will you be adding new rephrase options and AI slash commands?
A: Yes! We intend on adding new rephrase options and AI slash commands over time. Let us know what you’d like to see. We’re always keen to hear how we can serve your use case better.
