This FAQ helps explain the differences between the legacy way of managing segments in 6sense and the updated user interface that began releasing in September 2024.
Why do we need to migrate our segments to use the new segment management experience?
The new segment management user experience is built with a new backend that adopts the latest technology, offers more powerful filtering capabilities, and provides faster load time. Therefore, all the segments need to be migrated to the new system for you to use your already established segments in the new segment management system.
What can we expect in 6sense after our segments are migrated?
You can expect the following after segment migration:
All your existing segments will be present in the new segment management interface, in the same folders as before.
All your existing segments will have the same filters and number of accounts as in the old experience.
Some segment filters are slightly renamed with no behavioral change.
Some filters and filter logic have enhanced behaviors. For those filters, you will see a deprecated version in your existing segments with the old behavior. When you create a new segment in the new experience, the deprecated versions will not be available, and you will only see the filters with enhanced new behaviors.
All the activations (ads, segment syncs, orchestrations, workflows, alerts, etc.) on segments will continue to work the same as before the migration.
Are there any action items for us during segment migration?
No, there are no action items on your end. However, we recommend that you invest in cleaning up your existing segments before the migration, so your new experience starts with a cleaner workspace for segments.
What communications will we get about segment migration?
Your Administrators will get an email notification from our team one week before migration happens. Your Customer Success Manager will also be notified at the same time so they can assist you with any questions. After the migration finishes, the new interface will replace the old one. You will also see an in-app notification once your migration is completed.
Will there be any downtime on the platform during migration?
The day before your migration completes and you see the new segment interface, you will experience a short period when the segment interface is view-only. This period will be after 5 pm PST.
When will the migration occur?
Your migration should occur over the next few months. You will receive an email the week leading up to your migration, indicating a brief period of time (less than 24 hours) where your segments will be view-only and not editable.
How will we know when the migration is complete?
When the migration is complete, you will notice a visual change to segments, and receive in-app messaging.
Will any of our active campaigns be impacted by the segment migration?
No.
After the migration, can we go back to the old segments experience?
No.
What if we don’t want to migrate to new segments?
All customers are required to migrate to the new experience.
