This page is an overview of requirements to run retargeting campaigns for website visitors.
Refer to Visitor Retargeting Ads.
Prerequisites for running retargeting campaigns
Refer to the sections below for details about these requirements.
WebTag 2.0 must be set up and enabled. If you are using the legacy webtag, refer to Move from Legacy WebTag to WebTag 2.0.
Confirm with your Customer Success Manager that you are on CPRA-updated terms with 6sense.
Consult with your privacy team to determine whether you need to update your privacy policy and/or cookie banner.
Update your implementation of the 6sense JavaScript WebTag
To update your existing implementation of the 6sense JavaScript website tag:
Back up your existing 6sense JavaScript website tag as a precaution.
Generate a new 6sense website tag to replace your existing Javascript tag. Refer to Set Up 6sense WebTag 2.0.
When configuring the website tag, ensure that the toggle under User Retargeting is set to Enabled.
Replace your existing website tag with this new website tag using the link above.
Note: If you previously updated your 6sense JavaScript website tag to include following line then no further action is required.
window._6si.push(['enableRetargeting', true]);
In the near future, the new website tag 2.0 will become the default and provide lot more value over time.
Confirm that you are on CPRA-updated terms with 6sense
6sense updated its standard terms to reflect certain additional language in the CPRA related to service provider contract requirements.
We added language to reflect that for customers that use the 6sense ad retargeting feature, and if the feature is considered a “share” under the CPRA, 6sense will act as an authorized third party of Customer under the CPRA, subject to any additional obligations as might be set out in the CPRA and its regulations, when finalized.
To determine whether your agreement with 6sense requires an update, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager.
(If needed) update your privacy policy and cookie banner
From a privacy perspective, it is each customer’s obligation as the business to ensure they have the right to provide the data to 6sense to perform processing on behalf of the customer.
While we do not provide legal advice to our customers on CCPA/CPRA compliance, our customers follow CCPA/CPRA guidelines in determining whether to add a “Do Not Sell/Share” link to their website and any other cookie banner updates.
Our customers also disclose in their privacy policies that personal information may be shared with third-party vendors on behalf of the customer.
We recommend that you work with your company’s privacy team to determine whether any website updates are needed.
